September 2010
Dear Parents and Swimmers,
The Board of Directors of the Irondequoit Swim Club (Gators) would like to welcome you back for the 2010/2011 swimming season. We look forward to having all of you return for another exciting and rewarding season.
The start of this season for returning swimmers will be on Tuesday, September 7th at Irondequoit High School. Instructions for registering your swimmer(s) are below. The online registration, completed paper copy of the Health and Emergency Information Form, along with your payment as detailed below are due the week of the 7th. (Additional copies of the Health and Emergency Information Form will be available at the pool).
Over the summer, the board has been working on some changes for the upcoming season:
Communications:
Last year, we introduced our new team website and team management system which has great e-mail communication and billing tools. We are continually exploring how to best take advantage of all this website has to offer. One of the enhancements we’ve made this year is on-line Registration. Please visit us at http://www.iscgators.com.
Registration:
Both Online Registration AND a paper copy of the Health & Emergency Information Form are required for each swimmer. Regarding the Health & Emergency Information Form, we want to assure you that it will be secured as a Confidential document to be used for coaching needs and in case of emergency only.
On-line Registration:
(1) Complete the on-line Registration.
(2) Update your child's account information.
(3) Print out and complete the Health & Emergency Information Form, submit at the pool.
(4) Payment can be made by credit card on the website or by check.Checks can be placed in the membership file at the pool.
Annual Membership Fees and Expenses for 2010-2011:
Membership is for twelve months and typically includes five staffed practices per week, 48 weeks per year. (Practice is not held during school closings and pool maintenance.) The fees quoted below include your Club Membership and USA Swimming Membership (which is required and covers the club for insurance).

Other expenses swimmers can expect to incur during the year are a practice suit, a team suit for meets, goggles, swim cap, Invitational Meet fees (Dual Meets are free) and travel expenses.
Volunteering and Participation Point Program:
As in the past, we need all parents to share their talent and time to assist with in Club events. Your time does not need to be extensive, but your effort is essential in order to keep the price of membership reasonable and to make the season more enjoyable for the swimmers and their families. We will have a signup sheet for the volunteer positions at time of registration and at the Parent Orientation. For your reference, volunteer opportunities are listed on the website under Jobs and Duties. Participation point deposit is collected when you join the Club.
-
The deposit is refunded once you accrue the total number of points required. We will issue a partial refund if you do not fulfill the total number of points.
-
A Job Description Summary (to be distributed separately) details your opportunities in the club and the number of points awarded for that activity.
-
Some positions in the Club are exempt from the participation deposit and are noted in the summary.
We have made some changes to the point system, to ensure volunteers are properly awarded for their participation. We have increased the number of points for some of the activities and exempted some positions from the participation deposit.
Payment Due Dates:
For returning swimmers, the first registration payment of $300 is due by September 10th. The balance is due by October 8th. A three-installment payment option is available (third payment due December 3rd) for an additional $30 fee. Contact Membership to make arrangements. Signing the registration form indicates agreement to make payments on time or be subject to a $30.00 late fee and possible removal of your swimmer from the water until payments are made.
